At The Sands Atlantic Beach, we love summertime and the beach. And with hot days and cold waves right around the corner, we thought we’d get ready for the heat by making a playlist of the best beach songs for everyone to enjoy. While some of these songs might not be playing at your beach wedding, they are some of our favorite songs to listen to all summer long. We chose five newer songs and five older ones, and we hope you’ll love them all.
Jason Derulo – Don’t Wanna Go Home
We love Derulo’s updated use of the classic beach mantra, “Day-o, me say day-o. Daylight come and me no wanna go home!” The giant beat and catchy melody of the chorus don’t hurt either.
Chairlift – I Belong In You Arms
This super-catchy, super-energetic pop song is perfect for having fun with all your friends on the beach. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up in someone’s arms by the end of day….
Rihanna – Where Have You Been
The babe from Barbados is back with this new summer jam featuring pulsating beats, dubstep breakdowns, and enough hooks to turn your beach party into a dance party.
Sublime with Rome – Take It Or Leave It
Whether you’re an old school fan of Sublime or you’re hearing them for the first time, this song is an instant beach classic. We also like the line “I purchased my ticket to New York.” Hopefully they can make it to Long Island!
Coldplay – Paradise
This song feels so laid back, but we know the big rockin’ chorus is always just around the corner. Plus we can’t stop singing “Para-para-paradise.”
Kenny Loggins – Playing with the Boys
One simple question: Beach volleyball, anyone? This song is a beach classic!
Steve Winwood – Higher Love
This ‘80s jam always makes us long for the water and waves, and now that it’s summer, we can have them both!
Bon Jovi – Blaze of Glory
This epic song is a surefire sing-along and a great way to get everyone rocking on the beach!
Seals and Croft – Summer Breeze
Don’t forget to include a few smooth jams on your beach playlist! We recommend the mellow harmonies of this ‘70s classic that celebrates the good things of summer.
The Beach Boys – Surfin’ USA
You could really put in any of your favorite Beach Boys songs, just as long as you have at least one song from the band that practically invented beach music. We like this song because it’s bright and poppy, it’s instantly recognizable, and it will make everyone want to stick their butts out, put their arms up, and wobble like they’re on a surfboard.
So those are our picks for the best beach songs for your summer playlist. What are some of your favorite beach songs? Tell us about them in the comments section below.
